Estate and wineryNowadays François Lurton cellar has 220 hectares divided into two estates: Chacayes estate in Vista Flores (Tunuyán, south of Mendoza) and Barrancas estate, in Maipú (east of Mendoza).
Chacayes estate is the densest vineyard in the world: 20,000 plants per hectare, resulting in a maximum of 4 clusters per plant. (The vineyards densest known in the world are between 10,000 and 12,000 plants per hectare). Density is achieved with the highest concentration of fragance, polyphenols and grapes colours, resulting in a higher quality of their wines. From Chacayes Vineyard come the ultra-recognized wines of Lurton, Chacayes, Black Stone (Piedra Negra) and Big Lurton (Gran Lurton).
Another great attraction of the winery are Pinot Gris vineyards at Finca Chacayes. Lurton is recognized worldwide for the quality of their Pinot Gris and was a pioneer bringing this strain to Argentina. Today, the Pinot Gris is the third part of Lurton’s production and their own success, since it is the best-selling wine.
The Winery located in Chacayes has been built to withstand earthquakes. Also, an special wing of the cellar has a breeding room for small volumne vats and barrels, which ensure optimal conditions for wine production. In the winery is carried out a careful process of grapes selection and a very soft barrel winemaking.
French tradition arrives to Argentina
François Lurton belongs from one of the highest reputation families in Bordeaux wine industry. His father, Andre Lurton, owns seven chateaux in France. He and his brother Jacques created in 1988 "Jacques & Francois Lurton SA" ( "Francois Lurton SA" since 2007), which starts as wine production and selleing consultant.
In the early 90s, they come to Argentina to advise a prestigious local winery. Lovers of the challenges, in 1996 decided to embark on a major investment project outside of France buying their first parcel at the south of Mendoza, in Vista Flores, and creating their own winery. The land chosen in the Uco Valley at about 1,000 / 1100 meters, was an unexplored wilderness. The quality of the soil, high altitude, excellent climate and the presence of water managed to seduce them.

In Francois Lurton winery you can live all sorts of activities from guided tours and tastings upto to horseback riding and outdoor activities for groups and companies.
Guided tours:
Lurton offers visitors the opportunity to see the facilities and dive into high quality wines producing world.
Tastings:
Tastings can be conducted directly from the stainless steel tanks, trying different strains and reserves and also premium wines, led by experts in a highly professional environment. Unique Chacayes, Gran Lurton and Piedra Negra.
Horseback riding:
F. Lurton organize rides through the vineyards, with the possibility to learn about wines cultivation and grapes tasting. (Requires prior reservation).
WineShop:
Visitors can bought whole line of products at promotional prices, directly from their place of origin.
Groups and companies:
Lurton doors are open to groups and companies who want to spend a different day on the premises of the winery: from Workshops to outdoors activities, product launches and other commercial activities in the best natural environment and with all the technology. (Requires reservation)
Lunch and dinner:
Lunches and dinners are available for groups. They can enjoy from simple barbecues to the best Argentinian fusion cuisine prepared by renowned chefs de Mendoza. (Requires reservation)
Visit Days:
Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 17:30 and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 to 17:30
