History
In the mid '50s, the famous Champagne house Moet & Chandon was led by a visionary, Count Robert Jean de Vogue, who felt that South America had great potential to produce vin mousseux (sparkling wine) high quality in the style of Moët & Chandon. Then instructed to Renaud Poirier, most prestigious Winemaker of the Champagne region, to examine how the country should be established winery. Between 1957 and 1959, Poirier visited several points of South America, after several tests, he was convinced it was in this country, more exactly in Agrelo, south of Mendoza, where they were installed. The rocky terrain, the weather sunny day, cool nights and high thermal amplitude, they provided ideal conditions for aromatic grapes of great concentration, body and flavor. In 1959, two months after harvest, Robert Jean de Vogue decided to create the first subsidiary of Moët & Chandon outside France. Chandon Argentina is thus born.
Since its inception, Chandon Argentina was assisted by technicians of Moët & Chandon, who had by then more than 200 years of experience: Founded in 1743, its products were already known around the world.
These origins explain the perfect combination between tradition and modernity that has always characterized Chandon Argentina, and his constant concern for quality and its continued pursuit of excellence.
